Description
Color: Transparent Amethyst *
Size: 16/0
Quantity: 2-3 grams
These old European glass micro beads were manufactured between the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s. They’re a tiny size 16/0 seed bead, which allows for incredible detail & resolution. Because they were manufactured so long ago, they show greater size variance than contemporary beads.
These beads are very, very small – like the size of a grain of sand. I recommend them for experienced beadworkers, extremely patient people, or those who enjoy a good challenge. When strung, there are about 28-32 beads per inch. The beads have a diameter of about 1.45 mm.
The hank has 4 loops, measuring 12.5″ each (or 6.25″ when tied closed) and it weighs approximately 2 – 3 grams.
These pictures have been magnified to better convey color and shape. They’re shown next to a coin and a ruler for scale.
* Color notes: This is a lovely transparent amethyst purple, which is just a tad to the blue side of purple. As you can see from the photos these hanks have some variation in color with a few odd ball beads mixed in.
