Description
These reverse painted intaglio cabochons feature a basket or bouquet of flowers. The base is clear glass, and the flowers are a soft pink with a bit of shading. The edges of the stone are beveled and faceted for a subtle, elegant look.
Note that these old intaglios show more wear than most – some stones may show “holidays” with missing bits of paint, color fading, or discoloration. In some cases, the paint is loose and can be popped out. These flaws are evident in the photos, and the price has been reduced to reflect the condition. I’ve had beautiful results repainting old intaglios in the past. You can even remove the color intentionally and leave it blank or repaint with a new color. I will leave these restoration options to you, since many of my customers actually prefer the aged, shabby chic look. In spite of their flaws, these stones remain beautiful and collectible.
Made in West Germany in the 1950’s – 1970’s for the costume jewelry trade.
