These vintage glass cabochons were manufactured in West Germany, from the 1950’s through the 1970’s. The stones measure 13mm each, and they feature a multicolor “cassata” style with randomly placed ribbons of transparent cobalt, green and pink over a clear glass base. The back sides of the cabs have a textured cross hatch pattern, which can be seen from the front; the effect makes the stones look a bit like tiny, colorful headlights.
The gold foiled back sides are slightly concave, with a textured cross hatch pattern as described above. The dome is about 3mm high at the highest point. These are cabochons, suited for gluing, mounting or bezeling; they are not beads and they do not have holes for stringing.
